Painting Black and White...

Here's a peak of the latest portfolio piece I've been working on.

Yesterday, I stumbled upon the Pigpen Theatre Company, which looks really cool.  I hope someday I can see one of their shows in person.  But in the meantime, they have some videos that are fun to watch.

And in SCBWI conference news, illustrator Molly Idle has some great posts about getting ready for L.A. 2012.  You can read them here

And here's a really helpful blog post from Jill Corcoran Books about how to write a query letter.

And just one more thing... There are some lovely, new posts over at Between the End Pages.

Happy Friday!

Warm-up sketch

Howdy Pardner!  Here's a quick warm-up sketch I did to start the day.  Your tips on my last post are much appreciated!  Thank you!

Painting...

Today I'm working on painting a series of vignettes about a little kitty who takes a long walk.

In unrelated, but more interesting news, if you're a fan of The Dark Crystal or The Labyrinth, I think you might like looking at this.  I sure did.

Also, are you going to #LA12SCBWI?  (Is it weird to use Twitter hash tags outside of Twitter?) And if you are, how are your preparations coming along?

And one more question... After the conference, Hubby and I are driving from L.A. to Seattle.  Do you have any suggestions for places to stop along the way?  Maybe a cool book store or a good place to eat?  I'd love your advice! Please and thank you.  :)

Inspiration

Hello Friday!  Hello Weekend!

Although, I guess its not quite time to be in weekend mode.  Still a few more hours of working on my portfolio for the SCBWI Summer Conference, and maybe some sketches of Baba Yaga.  But after that its a weekend of iced coffee, chocolate croissants, farmer's market, and reading.  Woot!  Happy weekending to you!  (ps- that's a picture of the bulletin board above my desk.)
